The Stillness of Air

            Tonight is a perfect night 
            heaviness in the air 
            with a faint tinge of wetness 
            I can smell the fallen leaves 
            the earthiness of life 
            
            There are no sounds 
            Just the distant hum of traffic 
            Clouds permeate the heavens 
            and a faint glow of the nearby 
            city, lights the eastern ceiling 
            
            My breathing is even and calm 
            I know only that I exist 
            in this beautiful realm 
            taking in the magnitude of life 
            that I can only admire 
            
            Feelings are liberated and lightened 
            knowing that the moment 
            is a point in time where 
            everything seems right 
            acceptance permeates 
            
            The air is still 
            I am still 
            happiness surrounds me 
            as I smell life's changes 
            at a point in my humanity 
            
            Imagining the beginning 
            Imagining the end 
            I am not alone 
            as I exhale the sweet 
            smell of life
